About the guild
Who are we?
Warseeker Tribe was created on 9 May 2005 and is one of the oldest guilds on the Aggramar server. We continue to have an awesome and strong community which we are very proud of and which has a fairly large number of members. The community may be diverse in its make-up, but has a shared outlook. WST is a rarity among large guilds, in that we have a casual approach. We raid, but we do not do it every night of the week. We do group content together and have as much fun wiping as we do downing bosses. We celebrate each other’s achievements and share many friendships across the guild, some of which have crossed into life outside WoW. We have an active guild chat and active forums, and while we have all shared many things together, we are also open and welcoming to new members.
What do we believe in?
There are several key ideals of membership in Warseeker Tribe. Among the things we value highly are: Freedom of choice, respect for others (both inside the guild and outside), friendship, teamwork, maturity (not necessarily in age but in attitude), and, importantly, having fun. Our rules and guidelines are in place to ensure the guild remains a safe and caring community and enjoyable place to be.
How is the guild run?
The guild has a guild leader and a number of officers. While the guild leader and officers are the ones who ultimately make the decisions, the guild aims to be as clear as possible on how any of these decisions are made. Members are asked for their opinions on matters, including applications from would-be members. The leadership aims to be approachable, friendly and fair, with a focus on what is best for the future of the guild as a community. The officers are here to develop, guide and support the guild, knowing that the guild can only be as good as the sum of its members.
How do you join Warseeker Tribe?
We welcome applications from anyone interested in joining our community and more details on how to apply can be found in the Recruitment Forum. Guild members are asked for their thoughts on applications and successful applicants will be invited for a probation period within the guild. The length of the probation period will be decided by officers on a case-by-case basis. During that period, we strongly encourage probationers to get to know other guild members by taking part in the guild chat, participating on the forums and joining other guildies for doing group content. This enables the probationers to find out whether they feel Warseeker Tribe would be a suitable home for them and for us to see whether they will fit into our guild.
Our tabard
Yes, not everyone likes the design of the tabard. Don't ask for a change. Wear it and be proud, or don’t wear it and be proud too!
Guidelines for behaviour outside the guild facilities
Representing the guild
Remember you are representing WST when you play with anyone outside the guild and treat them with the same respect you treat those within the guild. It can be difficult, as you may meet some less mature or capable players, but try to avoid indulging in flaming, arguing and so on. If you have to leave a group, try and leave in such a way that they will not flame you after. This also applies to conduct anywhere where your guild badge is displayed, for example the official forums.
Raiding with the Warseeker Tribe
WST Raiding
Warseeker Tribe is not a raiding guild - we are a guild that raids. This means that we do not force specific specializations or classes on people - we want you to raid on the toon you enjoy - and we rotate raiding spots in an open and fair manner. It also means we have no forced attendance - you can join the raids when it fits your real life schedule. That said, when you do sign up, we do expect you to be up to the task, to have studied your class and the boss tactics so that you are an asset to the team. The raid leader and other experienced guild members can always help you with understanding a boss fight or can give pointers as to how you can improve your performance - do not be afraid to ask for help!
We also want the loot distribution to be as fair as possible. This means that we run with a basic "one-epic-per-run" rule - we are not doing dkp or other point/reward systems like that. Every time you join a raid, you have the same chance for getting gear.
Our raiding goal is to kill all raid bosses on both Normal and Heroic and will strive to get the Ahead of the Curve achievements on all of them, but as we do not force attendance, we might not get it for all the bosses.
Guidelines for conduct within the guild channels and facilities
Respect each other
Our guild is made up of people from a wide variety of backgrounds, countries and ages. While something may not seem offensive to one individual, it may be appear very different to someone else. Chat, have fun, but if someone tells you that they find your behaviour offensive to them, respect that and stop.
Guild chat
Is active and is a lot of fun as well as used for discussion of more serious concerns. Please use it freely, but note that racist, sexist, and homophobic language, as well as excessive swearing and other offensive behaviour, will not be tolerated. It is important you have fun but also equally important that all members are able to feel comfortable and at home within the community, including the chat channel. Overuse of “leet speak” is not welcome. Treat others as you would wish to be treated, and think about the language you use.
Trade skills and drops
As a community, Warseeker Tribe encourages members to help each other out. Selling of items in guild chat is not allowed, however we do encourage members to use the guild bank wherever possible to meet their needs. The guild bank has its own set of rules, which can be viewed on the forum by guild members and probationers.
Forums
The forums are open to all guild members and probationers. We would ask you to show the same level of respect that you show people in guild chat. The officers are able to moderate any posts on the forum that they feel are excessively and unnecessarily inflammatory, rude or offensive. If a post is moderated, the officer moderating the post will inform the moderated poster. A copy of the original text will be kept by the editor.
In-game calendar
Most guild members choose to use the in-game calendar for organising runs. Organising a run in advance using the in-game calendar might be helpful as we do not expect anyone in the guild to stop what they are doing to join a run. When organising a run, you should generally take people in the order they signed up in, class composition allowing, rather than hand-picking those you may wish to play with (unless the event specifies otherwise). Please be aware that if you sign up for a run, you are expected to turn up for that run, although real life is always greater than WoW and exceptions can be made. If you cannot make a run, it is polite to get a message to the organiser either in person, via a fellow guild member or via mail in game or on the forums, either prior to the event or as an excuse afterwards.
Voice Communication
We have access to a voice comms server, which is paid for by a guild member. Details of this server are not to be shared outside the guild without prior permission of an officer. The usual rules of politeness and good behaviour apply when using this. Server details are available in the WST member forums.
Playing with people outside the guild
Freedom of choice is important in WST and we do not restrict anyone in terms of who they can or cannot play with. If you wish to raid outside the guild, you are free to do so, just be aware that you can not get loot from a given boss if you have already looted that boss in a raid with the same difficulty in the same week.
Concerns about the behaviour of another member
If you have specific concerns about the behaviour of another guild member, please raise such concerns with an officer, either in a /w, an in game mail or a forum mail. Such issues should normally not be raised in guild chat, party chat or raid chat or on the forums (naming and shaming is not tolerated in our forums and any posts practicing this, will be moderated). Officers will look into any concerns and will feedback to the individual who raised the issue. If necessary, the officers will bring the concerns to the guild’s attention or raise it with other individuals concerned. Any issues raised with guild officers will remain confidential within the officer group until resolved and thereafter if needed.
Elitism and “gief epixx”
Neither of these attitudes are welcome within the guild. If you are epic hungry or want to spend hours stroking your epeen, we are not the guild for you and we would ask our members to refrain from this. It is fine to link a new drop, discuss stats in a constructive manner, but we are not here to form elitist groups, pamper big egos and help people get epic loot. Likewise, if an item is offered in guild that more than one person wants, we would ask people to be happy for the recipient, and not kick up a fuss about how much they want that item, why they didn’t get it and so on. Also, just because someone does not have as much experience or as good gear as someone else, does not mean they are to be ridiculed or excluded in any way. We encourage inclusion and development, not exclusion. It is also nice to be happy for someone if they are proud of something they have achieved or received, rather than trying to outdo them.
People leaving
Although it may be painful, if anyone leaves the guild, for whatever reasons, please respect their decision and refrain from flaming them for their choice. While it may be hard to see someone leave, remember it is also likely to have been a hard decision for them to make. They should be remembered for their positive contributions to the guild rather than anything negative. In this case, if you can’t say anything nice, don’t say anything at all. Officers may choose to remove remaining alts of any character leaving the guild or may decide to allow them to stay.
Breaking the rules of the game
Any breach of the EULA (the End User License Agreement that you sign with Blizzard before playing the game) is not tolerated and any members found to be doing this will be removed the guild, along with all their alts. This includes buying or selling gold, power levelling by a source other than the player, botting and account sharing.
Handing characters on to other people
Membership of the guild is given to the individual, NOT to their character(s). Anyone passing their character on to a different owner, for whatever reason, must notify a guild officer by mail, either in game or on the forums, and understand that that character may well be removed from the guild, along with any alts.
Poaching
Poaching of members from other guilds is not tolerated.
